Healthcare

I’m in favor of Universal Coverage.

This is not the same as “Medicare for All”. Medicare is an insurance plan. In fact, it’s a set of insurance plans, with the Part A, Part B, Part D, and the premiums and the co-pays and the donut hole and all that. Plus the yearly requirement to revisit one’s choices on each item. And it doesn’t cover Dental, of course, so that's an extra you have to find and buy and re-choose on a yearly basis. Who wants all that?

Ok yeah, it’s better than what we have (and that’s quite an indictment, right there!), but wouldn’t it be better all around if all the necessaries were covered for everyone, all the time, and without all the paperwork? That’s what I want.

I’m glad to see the plans being discussed also include discussions of what this future will mean for the tens of thousands of people now working in the current insurance “system”. It would be wrong to just throw those people out of work.

But once those folks are taken care of, job-wise, the insurance companies are just in the way of good health results for people. Here’s hoping for the mother of all disintermediation!
